Naruto: Tests of the Ninja v. 1

Naruto is a ninja-in-training with a need for attention, a knack for mischief, and sealed within him, a strange, formidable power. His antics amuse his instructor Kakashi and irritate his teammates, intense Sasuki and witty Sakura, but Naruto is serious about becoming the greatest ninja in the village of Konohagakure.

As the other reviewers have already said, Naruto is simply brilliant and definitely one of the best - easily a 5 star rating from myself (even though I tend to overanalyse and am difficult to please!) But let me just clear up some misconceptions about Naruto.1.)"Naruto is all about fighting". This is not true. Ninjas in the Naruto storyline are used to carry out missions. Missions may range from cleaning up the village rubbish to assassinations. Inevitably, fights and conflicts will happen between Ninjas who often have conflicting goals and ideals - but no fight happens without reason. The reason is carefully constructed within the depth of the storyline which makes the fights that happen much more meaningful and compelling. There is a fine balance between action and storyline. 2.)"Naruto is childish". No! Strictly not true. The Waterstone's synopsis may make you believe that this is a childish storyline, but it's a completely false perception. The storyline is very gripping and contains emotional elements. Yet, there are highly hilarious segments throughout giving it an excellent blend. 3.)"Naruto himself, is annoying". Maybe... but only in the beginning. Being mischievous is his way of calling for acknowledgment to his existence. I ask - does his character change once he receives his acknowledgement...? First impressions matter, but they shouldn't necessarily stick. A (proper) synopsis to the story (very minor spoilers)Twelve years before the events at the focus of the series, a nine-tailed demon fox attacked Konoha. Powerful enough to raise tsunamis and flatten mountains with a swish of one of its tails, it raised chaos and slaughtered many people, until the leader of the Leaf Village - the Fourth Hokage - sacrificed his own life to seal the demon inside a newly born child, being Naruto Uzumaki. The Hokage was celebrated as a hero for sealing the demon fox away. However, it left Naruto to grow up as the containment vessel for the demon fox. Mistreated in his childhood as if he were the demon fox itself, he grew up an orphan and outcast without friends, family, or acknowledgment. But despite his inferiority complex and mistreatment, he still has one of the grandest ambitions of all...The demon who become a boy, the boy who became an outcast, the outcast who became a hero... This is the story of Naruto Uzumaki, undoubtedly one of the greatest stories ever.

Naruto is definetely the beste manga series ever! Naruto is so cute! The manga is so much better than the other ones because it appeals to both adults and teenagers alike. If you think the anime is good, read the manga!Oh yeah, can you all sign a petition for getting new naruto in the UK because Jetix keep repeating episodes and I don't think they're planning on getting new ones so just write to jetix asking them!
