This book is an adorable mix of story book and craft book. Meet Billy the dog and Marcus the monkey, created from old socks, as they tell how Mum made them some friends from old socks, some gloves and a mitten. The instructions are clear, well-illustrated and very easy to follow. Just cut out roughly the same shapes as shown from your left-over woolies then hand or machine stitch along the lines. Add some stuffing and a button or two and hey presto... a new friend! There are even instructions on how to make little clothes for the more bashful of your creations.A basic hand stitched monkey took me about 20 minutes from start to finish. There are sixteen projects in the book.I would recommend this book to anybody who likes quirky (and easy) crafts but it would be especially lovely to share with a child or grandchild.
As the title suggests, Sock And Glove allows you to create a world of charming soft friends; from grouchy monkeys to delightful sock elephants. Beautifully produced with ingenious designs and simple to follow instructions inside, Sock And Glove lets you make creations out of the ill-fitting and the threadbare, the holey and the odd. This is a lovely craft book.

This is a wonderful craft book both for the practicality of the instructions and for the artistic quality of the book itself. The completed creatures look highly professional for sock creations, which is reflected within the photographs. The step-by-step instructions at the back are easy to follow and clearly illustrated. It is a wonderful book to own and use!

Who would have thought you could have so much fun with gloves and socks! This book is full of step-by-step patterns so that you can make your very own cuddly creations out of items that everyone has at home From elephants to monkeys and birds to fish, the author even shows you how to make shirts, dresses, trousers and hats to finish off your furry friends. Great for weekend afternoons with friends or workplace competitions. Anyway, I'm off to make my very own stripy zebra!
