When this book first came out in 1995 it quickly sold out. Why? Because no-one had previously reserached and written about the fascinating follies near Boughton, just north of Northampton. In this book you can find out about: the family who built them - the Wentworths, Earls of Strafford; about their circle - Horace Walpole and Alexander Pope in particular; and about the follies themselves, pricipally the Hawking Tower, the Obelisk, New Park Barn, Bunkers Hill Farm, the Spectacle and the Grotto. There is also information about the ruined Church, Boughton Fair, the implement gates at Holly Lodge and much more besides. A great story well told. So pleased it is back in print in a much expanded form.
